The Schmetterlinghaus is a unique, tropical oasis of calm and relaxation in the heart of Vienna. It is home to around 500 free-flying butterflies from around the world, which can be admired in a fantastic world dedicated to these delicate and colorful creatures. The butterflies fly through a light-filled building, past waterfalls and exotic plants, creating a natural habitat. The Schmetterlinghaus is located in a beautiful Art Nouveau building, which was once a place of rest and relaxation for Emperor Franz Josef I. Visitors can enjoy the paradisiacal atmosphere and unique fauna and flora of the Schmetterlinghaus

Activities: We visited the Schmetterlinghaus, located in the first district of Vienna. We spent about half an hour there, and combined the visit with breakfast in the Palmenhaus and a visit to the Ententeich in the Burggarten. We observed over a hundred different butterfly species
Highlights: Nunu was fascinated by butterflies of all kinds. Especially after our Costa Rica trip, we had discovered the most beautiful butterflies in the wild. The tropical temperatures between 26 and 35 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity were also a plus in winter ✨
