What to expect

The Jesuit Church, also known as the University Church, is a baroque church in Vienna, Austria. It was built between 1623 and 1627 and was remodeled by Andrea Pozzo between 1703 and 1705. The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and features a rich interior with gold, flesh-colours, and ochre. The church is also the final resting place of Andrea Pozzo, who was buried in the crypt. The Jesuit Church is a significant example of baroque architecture and is known for its opulent interior, which includes ersatz marble pillars, gilding, and allegorical ceiling frescoes. The church has undergone several refurbishments, including a major restoration between 1986 and 1998
