Hermesvilla is a palace in the Lainzer Tiergarten in Vienna, a former hunting area for the Habsburg nobility. The villa was given to Empress Elisabeth by Emperor Franz Joseph I and is noted for its art and natural setting. The interior features murals by famous artists, including Hans Makart, Gustav Klimt, and Victor Tilgner. The villa also has a gymnasium where Empress Elisabeth would work out daily, and a bedroom with a gigantic baroque 'state bed' and murals based on motifs from Shakespeare. Today, the Hermesvilla is used by the Vienna Museum for special exhibitions on cultural history and is a popular destination for those interested in Habsburg culture and history
