What to expect

The Schafbergbahn Bergstation is a mountain station located in Sankt Wolfgang im Salzkammergut, Austria. It is the final destination of the SchafbergBahn, a steep rack railway that takes passengers to the top of the Schafberg mountain. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. At the top, visitors can enjoy a 360° panorama, see 11 different lakes, and visit the Himmelspforte, a former shelter house. The SchafbergBahn is a great way for families to experience the beauty of the Austrian Alps without having to hike. The railway has a flexible schedule, and visitors can choose to get off at the Schafbergalm, a middle station, or continue to the top. The area around the Schafberg mountain offers various activities, including hiking and taking a boat ride on the Wolfgangsee lake
