Museum Linz, Upper Austria, Austria

What to expect

Linz Castle is a historic castle located on a hill above the old town district of Linz, Austria, directly on the Danube. The castle was first mentioned in 799 and has a rich history, having served as a residence for various emperors and nobles, including Emperor Frederick III and Emperor Rudolf II. The castle has undergone several transformations over the centuries, including a conversion into a palace in 1477 and a rebuilding in 1600. Today, the castle houses the Castle Museum of the Upper Austrian Provincial Museums. The castle is somewhat suitable for wheelchairs, but assistance may be necessary due to non-conforming measurements to the legally stipulated ÖNORM
