The Lunzer See is a naturally formed lake located at the foot of the Dürrenstein mountain, near the town of Lunz am See. It is considered the only naturally formed and the coldest lake in Lower Austria. The lake is home to various fish species, including Bachforellen, Seesaiblinge, Hechte, Groppen, Gründlinge, and Flussbarsche. Visitors can enjoy boat rentals and round trips with excursion boats on the lake. The lake's west shore features a restaurant and a Seebühne, an open-air stage that hosts music and theater performances during the summer. The Seebühne is a unique concept, where the stage is flooded and submerged in the lake during winter to protect it from ice damage. The area also hosts festivals, such as the 'wellenklänge' festival for contemporary art and the 'more ohr less' music festival
