Gantheaume Point

Point Broome, Western Australia, Australia

What to expect

Gantheaume Point is a promontory with a stretch of white sandy beach and a red rock cliff face overlooking the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. The point is home to dinosaur footprints, over 130 million years old, preserved in the Broome Sandstone. These footprints can be seen at very low tide, about 30 meters out to sea. The area also features Anastasia's Pool, a natural spa pool created by a lighthouse keeper for his wife. The point is a popular spot for launching boats, swimming, and enjoying the sunset. It's also a departure point for kayak tours, fishing charters, whale watching tours, and extended cruises. The nearby Broome Turf Club hosts race meets, which are a highlight of the town's tourism calendar
