Cape Nelson Lighthouse

Cape Nelson Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located in Cape Nelson State Park, offering stunning views of the surrounding coastline. The lighthouse was built in 1884 and features a unique white and red tower, as well as a long stone wall that protects the keepers' quarters from harsh winds. Visitors can explore the lighthouse and its grounds, which include a rubble wall, a telescope, and a radar station. The park also features several walking trails, including the Sea Cliff Nature Walk and the Lighthouse Walk, which offer opportunities to spot native wildlife such as rufous bristlebirds, black wallabies, and beautiful firetail finches. The park is also home to rare and unique coastal ecosystems, including soap mallee, heath, and wet heath. The lighthouse is still operational and is an important aid to navigation for ships passing through the area
