The Central Deborah Gold Mine is a non-active gold mine and tourist attraction in Bendigo, Australia. It operated from 1939-1954 and successfully extracted 929kg of gold. Today, visitors can explore the underground workings and discover what life as a miner was really like. The mine offers a 75-minute guided tour, where visitors can don a hard hat and miner's lamp and descend 61 meters beneath the surface to Level 2 of the mine. A self-guided surface tour is also available, which includes a visit to the interpretive museum to see the 'Hand of Faith' gold nugget replica and try their hand at panning for gold. The mine has been preserved and restored to retain its original buildings and much of its fittings and mining machinery, providing a unique glimpse into the region's gold mining history
