The complex is set in the Australian 1850s and features over 60 historically recreated buildings, with costumed staff and volunteers. Visitors can pan for real gold, take guided tours of the Red Hill Mine and the Sovereign Quartz Mine, and explore the main street lined with shops, hotels, and a theatre. The site also offers traditional trades such as coachbuilder, wheelwright, tinsmith, blacksmith, and farrier. Additionally, there are period cottages, schools, and a son et lumiere show depicting the story of gold. The place is family-friendly, with activities suitable for children, including panning for gold, dressing up in period costume, and attending school in a recreated 1850s classroom
