Turtle Watching is a location in Gladstone, Queensland, Australia, where six of the world's seven species of marine turtles visit coastal waters at various times of the year, with three species known to nest on the beaches. The nesting season for turtles begins and residents are reminded to be diligent and cautious when visiting the region's beaches. Female turtles come ashore to lay their eggs at night, and evidence of turtle nesting can be observed during the day. The entire nesting process can take several hours, and once the turtle has finished laying eggs, it returns to the ocean. Turtle hatching season is expected to occur from January to March. The location is also home to other wildlife and marine life, and is protected as part of the Capricornia Cays National Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park
