What to expect

Cattana Wetlands Environmental Park is a 80ha nature conservation park with a 420m boardwalk through feather palm forest, freshwater and salt water lakes, and abundant plant and birdlife. The park has been rehabilitated from a former sugar cane farm and sand mining quarry, and now features walking tracks, bird hides, and picnic areas. Over 200 species of birds have been recorded, and the park is also home to sugar gliders and striped possums. The park's wetlands and mangroves are expanding, and it is a great spot for bird watching and nature walks. Volunteers, known as the Jabirus, meet every Tuesday to work on weed control and revegetation, and have created a self-guided tour for visitors
