New Farm Park is a heritage-listed riverfront public park that is a beloved spot for picnics, celebrations, weddings, or just a sunny afternoon stroll or walking the dog to the New Farm dog park. It is known for its stunning rose garden, sprawling lawns, riverside views in one direction and a vista of the city’s towers in the other, and the wooden playground that winds through the fig trees which has enchanted generations of children. The park covers 15 hectares and is at the southeastern end of the New Farm peninsula on a bend in the Brisbane River. The Powerhouse arts centre is at the eastern end of the park. The park includes the New Farm Park ferry wharf and links to the Brisbane Riverwalk from Newstead to Toowong. It is one of Brisbane's most popular parklands and tourist attractions. The park has a rich history, with evidence of human activity dating back to the pre-European settlement era, and was later used as a farm and a racecourse before being converted into a public park in 1914
