What to expect

The George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens are a 42-hectare botanical garden located 2 km north of Darwin city. The gardens feature a magnificent display of plants from northern Australia and tropical areas around the world, including heliconias, gingers, tropical orchids, bromeliads, and other exotic plants. The gardens also have a unique collection of African-Madagascan plants, including baobab and boab trees. Visitors can explore the gardens through self-guided tree walks, join a guided walking tour, or relax on the expansive shady lawns and enjoy the largest ornamental fountain in Darwin. The gardens are also home to a variety of birds, including the Rufous Owls, and offer a playground and tree house for children. The gardens have a cafe, Eva's Cafe, which serves coffee and cake, and a visitor center with a mini amphitheater, event space, and retail gift shop
