What to expect

Kurnell is a peninsula in southern Sydney, significant for being the site where Captain Cook and his crew first set foot on Australian soil in 1770. The area is now part of the Kamay Botany Bay National Park, which offers various activities and sights, including the Kurnell Visitor Centre, Commemoration Flat picnic area, Banks-Solander track, and Burrawang walk. The peninsula also features several historic sites, including Captain Cook's Landing Place and the Monument Track, which showcases ten monuments along the foreshore. The area is home to diverse flora and fauna, including saltmarsh and mangroves, and is an important breeding and feeding site for waterbirds
