Wategos Beach is a peaceful and sheltered beach located on the northern side of Walgun Cape Byron. It's a great spot for families to picnic, play, and swim. The beach is protected by the headland from the wilder waters beyond, making it an ideal place for recreation. You can cook up your lunch on one of the free beachside barbecues and enjoy your picnic on the beach or at one of the picnic tables. The local bottlenose dolphins also use the beach for recreation, showing off their surfing skills on the incoming waves. After a day at the beach, you can take the steep steps up to Walgun Cape Byron and the lighthouse. The beach is also a great spot for surfing, with waves that break gradually and are suitable for long boards and learners
