Belongil Beach is a 2.5km stretch of pristine beach, ideal for a long beach walk and relatively safe for swimming, especially on the southern end near Byron Bay when the beach is patrolled. The beach is dog-friendly, offers great snorkelling opportunities, and its north end is clothing-optional. It's a great spot for surfers, with waves created by the sandbar around the shipwreck of the SS Wollongbar. The area is also rich in Aboriginal history, with many sacred sites in and around Byron Bay. Families can enjoy the beach, and there are toilets and a cafe nearby
