Mutawintji National Park is a ruggedly beautiful desert region in the NSW outback, showing evidence of continuous use by Aboriginal people for thousands of years. The park is home to the famous hand stencil art of local Aboriginal communities, as well as many other important cultural and historic sites. Visitors can explore the area further by booking a night at Homestead Creek campground and choosing from easy walking tracks like Thaaklatjika Mingkana walking track, or more challenging options like Rockholes Loop walking track or Mutawintji Gorge walking track. A guided tour to Mutawintji Historic Site is also available, which boasts one of the best collections of Aboriginal art in New South Wales

Activities: We drove to Mutawintji National Park, a haven of secluded gorges and tranquil rockholes amid rugged sandstone ranges, with an abundance of wildlife, and explored it for a day. We stayed overnight in the red-dirt campsite and enjoyed a sunset walk to the top of a nearby ridge, spotting Aboriginal rock art along the way
