Reconciliation Place

Promenade Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia

What to expect

Reconciliation Place is an urban landscape design in the Parliamentary Triangle in Canberra, Australia, dedicated to reconciliation between Australia's Indigenous peoples and the mainly European settler population. The place features a convex mound, public artworks, and a promenade with sculpted installations called 'Slivers' that display images and text on themes of reconciliation. The design is intended to be a contemplative space, with expansive views, and is considered one of the world's most significant public memorials to indigenous history. Reconciliation Place is constructed on the traditional land of the Ngunnawal people and is a place for reflection and exploration of Indigenous achievements, partnerships, belonging, and connection to the land and waters
