What to expect

Australian Parliament House is a significant building located on Capital Hill in Canberra. The building was opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 9 May 1988 and is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere, with over 4,500 rooms and a floor area of more than 250,000 square meters. The site of the building was chosen for its prominence and was previously home to important ceremonial sites for local Aboriginal peoples. Visitors can explore the building and learn about its history and significance. The building replaced the provisional Parliament House, which was in use for 61 years and had become inadequate for the needs of a modern Parliament
