Perito Moreno

Glacier El Calafate, Santa Cruz, Argentina

What to expect

Perito Moreno Glacier is a massive glacier located in Los Glaciares National Park in Argentine Patagonia. It is one of the few glaciers in the world that is growing instead of retreating. The glacier is 30 km long, 5 km wide, and 170 meters thick, and its terminus is 5 km wide, with an average height of 74 meters above the surface of the water of Argentino Lake. Visitors can explore the glacier through various activities such as ice trekking, boat tours, and panoramic walkways. The glacier is also known for its unique rupture cycle, where the glacier grows and makes an obstruction in Rico Lake, producing an increase of the water levels and pressure causing the famous break of the glacier. The area surrounding the glacier offers stunning landscapes, ancient glaciers, and rich wildlife, making it a must-visit destination for nature and adventure lovers
