Lago Argentino is a large lake in the Patagonian province of Santa Cruz, Argentina. It is the largest freshwater lake in Argentina, with a surface area of 1,415 km2 and a maximum width of 20 mi. The lake's waters have an average depth of 155 m, with a maximum depth of 719 m. The lake is situated within Los Glaciares National Park and is fed by several glaciers, including the Perito Moreno and Upsala glaciers. The lake is a popular destination for tourists, with many unique hostels, hotels, and other amenities catering to the outdoors. The lake is appreciated for fishing, with species such as perch, common galaxias, lake trout, and rainbow trout. The surrounding area is home to numerous living organisms, including over 500 recorded plant species, almost 400 animal species, and nearly 100 types of fungi and lichen. The lake is also a great spot for birdwatching, with around 150 species of birds documented in and around the lake, including the Andean condor, Austral parakeet, and Magellanic woodpecker
